NIGHTCAPS DOG TRIALS
| ONE EVENT COMPLETED j The annual competitions of the Night--1 caps Dog Trials Club were begun on Mr H. A. McConachie’s property at Nightcaps yesterday. The weather was I ideal and there was a large attendance. The sheep for the trial were lent by Mr N. McGregor, and Fraser Brothers. The judge for the maiden heading event was Mr A. T. Millar, of Waiau, who acted in the absence of Mr J. J. McCrostie, Invercargill. Mr McCrostie will judge the other events. The following were the results:— Maiden Heading, Bringing Back and Holding in Ring.— Time, <8 minutes; distance, 350 yards.—Mr F. S. Macdonald’s Fan (51gpts) 1, J. R. Anderson’s Kip (51pts) 2, M. Mouat’s Gilt (50Jpts) 3, D. Bryan’s Moss (50pts) 4, A. Paterson’s Lady (49pts) 5. In a weight-guessing competition Mr B. Rushton guessed the exact weight of a live sheep (651 b
