Changeable And Showery
(Special) WELLINGTON, May 28. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Moderate to strong west to southwest winds. The weather cool, changeable and showery; seas rough. Following is the Dominion forecast: The weather fair at first east of the main ranges on both islands; elsewhere cloudy and 1 changeable with scattered passing showers, more especially in Westland and Southland; scattered showers extending later, however, to eastern districts also; temperatures cool. Winds: Moderate to strong southwesterly to westerly westerlies predominating at first east of the main ranges, but winds turning more generally south-westerly during tomorrow. Seas (New Zealand waters): Moderate on the East Coast; elsewhere rather rough or rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds and rather rough or rough seas.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was cold and showery with a north-westerly wind blowing during the day. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and clear. The barometer reading was 29.4.
