ALBERT GOLD MEDAL FOR U.S. PRESIDENT

The Council of the Royal Society of Arts, with the approval of the president, the Duke of Connaught, has decided to confer on President Roosevelt the Albert Gold Medal of the society in recognition of his pre-eminent service to humanity as a fearless and resolute champion of the ideals of national freedom and individual liberty. The Albert Medal was struck in 1864 to commemorate the presidency of the society which was held by Prince Albert from 1843 to 1861. It is awarded for distinguished merit in promoting the arts, manufactures and commerce. Among previous recipients are Queen Victoria, King Edward VII., King George V, Thomas Edison, Orville Wright, Louis Pasteur, Guglielmo Marconi and Madame Curie.
