Cool And Changeable
(Special) WELLINGTON, May 27. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly winds. The weather cool and changeable with occasional showers, more especially on the coast. Seas rather rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— The weather fair at first east of the Southern Alps; otherwise cloudy with showers at times in most districts, but more especially in and west of the high country in both islands; temperatures becoming cooler.
Winds.—Moderate to strong north-east to north-westerly at first over most of the North Island and in the eastern districts of the South Island, but a change to moderate to fresh westerlies or south-westerlies extending gradually over the whole country from the west.
Seas.—New Zealand waters: Moderate in shore on the East Coast; elsewhere rather rough or rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong westerly to south-westerly kinds; seas moderate in the northern portion and rough in the southern portion.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was overcast and fine. Light rain fell early in the evening. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was mild and the sky was overcast. The barometer reading was 29.67 (rising).
