“INSIDE AMERICA”
TRAVEL CLUB’S SOCIAL AFTERNOON
“Inside America” was the subject of a talk given by Mrs H. S. Mathew at the Travel Club’s social afternoon yesterday. There was an attendance of 97 members and Mr A. W. Jones was in the chair. He extended a welcome to Mrs Baird, a visitor from Winton, and introduced Mrs Mathew. Mesdames Arnold and W. A. Croft were hostesses, and associated with them were Mesdames Mervyn Sim-
monds and J. Mcllwraith. Recitations were given by Mrs J. Wilson. Mrs Mathew, who has lived in New England, described the different sections of the community in America, and said that since each state was individual with racial and many other differences it was difficult to make them work as a unit. She also spoke of the Negroes and their problem. Mr J. Pickard proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs Mathew.
The next meeting of the Travel Club will be held on Monday, June 16.
