PROTECTION OF NATIVE BIRDS
“The protection of native birds is one of the functions of acclimatization societies. They are left to us to protect. No one else does it,” said Mi- S. M. Macalister (chairman) at the annual meeting of the Southland Acclimatization Society last night. ‘Over the years we have had quite a number of prosecutions for the destruction of native birds other than game birds. That is one of our functions and I am proud of the fact,” Mr Macalister added.
