BADMINTON

ALL SAINTS CLUB A successful season was reviewed in the annual report of the All Saints Badminton Club which was presented at the club’s annual meeting last night. “The membership remained at 100, 40 new members joining the club with a corresponding number of resignations,” stated the report. “An encouraging feature was the number of junior members who joined up; the majority showed great keenness and promise. Four teams were entered in the Southland Association competitions. Good performances were put up by all teams, the No. 1 B grade winning the B grade cup.” The financial position of the club was satisfactory. A donation of £lO had been made to the Fighter Plane Fund, and at the close of the season a donation of £3 was made to the Southland Badminton Association. There remained a credit of £9. It was difficult to forecast prospects for the coming season, the main problem being the hall, which was not available for the coming season. The chairman, Mr J. W. Wren, reported that eight club members were on active service.

The following office-bearers were elected:—Patron Mr R. Y. White; president, Mr J. W. Wren; vice-presidents, Miss D. Maltby, Messrs R. Smith, sen., A. J. Dillon, H. Skelt and J. Braithwaite; secretary and treasurer, Miss C. R. Curtis; assistant secretary, Mrs C. H. Skelt; club captains, Mrs C. H. Skelt and Mr Braithwaite; deputy club captain, Mr Dillon; delegates to Southland Association, Messrs Wren, Braithwaite and Dillon; committee, Misses A. Hallamore and B. Dempster, Messrs D. Richardson, A. Robertson and N. Mitchell; auditor, Mr G. H. Hughes.
