SMOKE IN COURT
Few persons would have agreed that the weak sunshine about mid-day in Invercargill yesterday had any heat in it, but an unusual incident in the Supreme Court proved that it had. The sun was shining on a water decanter on the Bar table and the rays were concentrated on the wooden table within a few inches of the glass. A thin wisp of smoke began to rise from the table and it was found that the wooden table top had been deeply scored in the path, of the sun’s rays.
