E. Watts, Auckland. Pilot Officer Gilbert Theodore Kimberley, R.N.Z.A.F., previously reported missing, reclassified as missing, but believed killed in action; father, the Rev. O. J. Kimberley, All Saints Vicarage, Nelson. Advice has been received by Air Headquarters, Wellington, that Sergeant Christopher Falcon Scott, previously reported wounded and a prisoner of war, is now reported well and interned in Unoccupied France. His father is Mr J. Scott, Raukapuka, Geraldine.

NAVAL CASUALTY

The Minister of Defence has announced the following casualty to a New Zealand rating serving with the Royal Navy who was killed in an air raid:— ,

Bertie Victor Read, telegraphist, R.N.V.R. (N.Z.); mother, Mrs Elsie May Read, 220 Clyde street, Island Bay, Wellington.

RIVERTON SOLDIER’S

DEATH

PRIVATE D. G. ROBERTS

Private Douglas George Roberts, who has been killed in action, was the second son of Mr and Mrs H. Roberts, of Riverton, and was born in Feilding. He was educated at Dunedin and at the Riverton District High School. After leaving school he was engaged in farming and also at the hydro works on the Cobb river, Takaka, Nelson. Returning to Riverton he continued his farming activities and was well-known in the district. He played in the junior team of the Riverton Football Club. He left for overseas, early this year and attained his twenty-first birthday in Egypt. His brother William is also serving overseas with the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
