BLUFF NEWS
FALLEN SOLDIERS
As a mark of respect to the memory of the late Privates H. T. Cunningham and George Fowler, who were killed in action in Greece, all the Bluff football teams wore black armbands on Saturday. At Rugby Park the Invercargill and Bluff senior teams stood in silence for a minute.
At the Methodist Church on Sunday evening a memorial service was held for Private Cunningham. A parade of more than 30 footballers marched from the Post Office to the church. The Rev. N. C. Challenger preached an impressive sermon, taking as his text “Remember Me.” Anthems were sung by the choir and Mr Challenger sang a solo.
PERSONAL Mr T. W. Parry has returned from a trip to Lyttelton.
