OFFICIAL RECOUNT BEGUN
The official recount of the votes recorded in the election of the City Council and of the four Invercargill members of the Southland Hospital Board was begun yesterday. The staff engaged on the recount was accommodated in the council chamber at the Town Hall and the work went on all day. The first job tackled was that of the scrutiny of the rolls. The chief purpose of this is to detect any cases of plural voting. The work of recounting the votes may be finished today, but it is possible that it will not be completed until tomorrow.
