DRUMMOND SOLDIER HONOURED
A large and representative gathering assembled in the Drummond hall for a function in honour of Private L. Turner. The chairman, Mr J. Kincaid, welcomed the guest and presented him with a money belt and hold-all on behalf of the district. Other speakers were Mr D. Brown, who presented Private Turner with a pen on behalf of the School Jubilee Committee, Mr D. Stewart, who presented him with a sum of money on behalf of the football club, and Mr S. Stewart, who spoke for the Returned Soldiers’ Association. Leading Aircraftman S. Smith was also welcomed and given a present. The music for the dance was supplied by Mi's Townsend, Mrs Allison and Miss Allison and Mr R. Lindsay and an extra was played by Miss I. Lindsay (Winton) and Messrs Stewart and G. Lindsay. During the evening Mr G. Lindsay sang two songs. Mr James Lindsay was master of ceremonies.
