AIR FORCE BAND’S VISIT

A campaign to recruit volunteers for the Air Force is at present being conducted throughout the Dominion and the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band will arrive in Invercargill today. After the band’s arrivt’. this afternoon it will march along Tay and Dee streets and will take the salute at the Troopers’ Memorial before forming up on a platform in the Crescent. The Mayor (Mr J. R. Martin), who wi 1 ’ be accompanied by Squadron Leader A. C. McArthur, will deliver a recruiting address. If the weather is wet the ceremony will be held in the Victoria Concert Chamber. A formation of aircraft will fly over the city before the parade. The Air Force Selection Committee will be in the supper room of the Victoria Concert Chamber today and tomorrow to interview applicants. Pilots for the Air Force should b : between 18 and 31 years of age and observers and gunners between 18 and 33 years of age. Recruits for the Fleet Air Arm should be from 18 to 28 years of age. The Battalion Band will meet the Air Force Band on its arrival by the express train at 1 o’clock today and will then move off to the Crescent to entertain the public with music before the exhibition of ceremonial marching by the Air Force Band.
