BASKETBALL The Orepuki B grade basketball team journeyed to Clifden where it beat the Clifden team by 30 goals to one. FLAG 500 The Knitting Circle’s fortnightly flag 500 evening was again well attended, the prize winners being Mrs Gillespie, Mrs R. Dunnage and Mr C. Bulman. PADDY’S MARKET The Orepuki Basketball Club’s annual Paddy’s Market was held recently, all the articles on the stall meeting with a ready sale. The winners of the vari-
ous competitions were: Mystery Par-;, cel, Mrs T. McCann; box of chocolates, Joan Waterhouse; jug, A. J. McPherson; dinner, Lorna Herrick. FARMERS’ UNION The president, Mr J. F. Brown, presided over 18 members at the monthly meeting of the Orepuki branch of the Farmers’ Union.
Mr H. J. Townshend was elected secretary. Matters of importance to the district were discussed and arrangements were made for chaff-cutting and the threshing mill.
