BRITISH RAID ON COLOGNE (Rec. 2 a.m.) LONDON, May 18. Bombers of the Royal Air Force last night heavily raided Cologne. Fires were left burning in the industrial area. U.S. PLANE PRODUCTION GROWS WASHINGTON, May 18. American plane production for April is reported to have reached 1600, twice the monthly total at the beginning of the year. It is stated that the production in July will be 1800 planes. Many of the new and extended factories are now beginning to show results. R.A.F. MACHINE-GUNS TRAIN ISTANBUL, May 18. The Royal Air Force machine-gunned trains carrying French war materials from Syria to Iraq. British and French troops are reported without confirmation to have clashed on the SyriaPalestine border.
