PATRIOTIC CONCERTS IN TUATAPERE

I again take up my pen to try to make the readers of your paper realize what is being done to supporters of patriotic funds in Tuatapere. Not only the Government but the Southland representatives of the Patriotic Fund Board have appealed over the air for funds to carry on this war. Have the people of Tuatapere been given a fair chance to raise funds? No. The sum of £273 raised by “The Merrymakers” in our boxing gymnasium (we have no hall) was a marvellous effort, but now they are stopped because of red tape. The local knitting circle is asking for money to buy wool to make garments for our fighting men overseas. I wonder what the people responsible foi' stopping us from helping our gallant- soldiers, sailors and airmen think of themselves when they read this letter. — lUKE BRITISH.
