DEVELOPMENTS IN AMERICA
DR MARSDEN IMPRESSED (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 17. After six months abroad investigating scientific aspects of the war, Dr E. Marsden, head of the Scientific and Industrial Research Department, returned by the Monterey. He said he was greatly impressed with the developments in the United States and much admired the efficiency and spirit of helpfulness. He said the possibilities arising from newer developments in the radio and electrical industries were highly important. America had tremendous resources and unlimited capacity for mass production of technical gear. Dr Marsden said America was now the economic and technical centre of the world. Her expansion was just beginning to become effective and encouraged a real hope for a reasonably speedy decision in the war. In Britain the old barriers had gone, and there was an earnestness everywhere to serve. Many New Zealanders in both Britain and America occupying important positions were taking active parts in the war effort. They were great team workers and extremely well respected.
