Fair To Cloudy (Special) WELLINGTON, May 3. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Light to moderate and variable winds The weather fair to cloudy and cold; seas slight to moderate. Following is me Dominion forecast:— The weather unsettled between East Cape and Cook Strait with intermittent rain and occasional showers over the remainder of the North Island. Fair over the South Island. Temperatures cold. Winds.—Fresh to strong southerly to westerly from Marlborough northwards; light to moderate and variable over the remainder of the South Island. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rough north of Farewell Spit and between East Cape and Kaikoura; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Southerly to westerly winds, fresh to strong in the northern portion with rough seas; moderate in the southern portion with slight seas.
The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine with bright sunshine in the morning after' a sharp frost. The afternoon was dull, but calm. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and overcast. The barometer reading was 30.18 in. (rising).
