OBITUARY
MRS D. DUTTON Mrs Dutton, widow of the Rev. D. Dutton, died recently at Dunedin. Mrs Dutton was 92 years of age, and for the past five years had not been outside hei’ own home. Never robust in body, and crippled many years ago by an unfortunate accident, she retained her faculties to the end.
She was born at Twitchen, in Shropshire, England. The first few years of their married life were spent in England, and in 1877 Mr and Mrs Dutton, with their 'two young children, came
to New Zealand. For three years the parish of Longbush and Woodlands was their home, but in 1890 Mr Dutton was called to the Presbyterian Church at Caversham, where he began his long ministry of 31 years. As a minister’s wife, Mrs Dutton had ideals of hospitality that ensured for all who knocked at the friendly door of the manse a glad and sympathetic welcome. After Mr Dutton’s retirement, the family moved to Maori Hill. There Mr Dutton died in 1931, and seven years later their daughter, Miss Nellie Dutton, also died.
