The heavy rain of the last two day 3 will have its effect on the New Brighton track which can hardly be expected to provide fast going lor tomorrow’s meeting. The course, however, has excellent drainage and dries quickly, and with good weather the going should be fair. The Wellington-Auckland cricket match was begun today after the opening had been delayed by rain. There was 45 minutes’ play before luncheon. Wellington won the toss.
