CARNIVAL AT ORETI BEACH
ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME ARRANGED The Oreti Beach carnival has always proved most popular, and if the programme can be taken as a guide the carnival next week-end should be even more successful than in the past. Many novelty events will also be staged. The draught horse derby and the greasy pig competition are certain to attract much attention.
On Sunday there will bo a grand march past, a military display, a pony i cavalcade, a surf display and a motor rally. A demonstraton of their work ; will also be given by members of the ■ St. John Ambulance Brigade. The Civic and Battalion Bands will be pre- I i
sent each day and will play selections. All the proceeds are to be devoted to the Southland Territorial Force Association.
