VETERANS OF SOUTH AFRICAN WAR

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, December 3.

Included in the miscellaneous section of the Finance Bill No. 4, which was introduced in the House this evening and read a first time is a clause providing for the granting of pensions to South African War veterans whose death or disablement is shown to have arisen out of service with the armed forces in the South African War. The rates of pensions are those prescribed in the War Pensions Extension Act 1940.

Another clause makes the children of the veterans in receipt of payments under the War Veterans Allowances Act 1935 eligible for war bursaries and allowances under the War Legislation Act 1917.
