£6OOO STILL TO BE RAISED The Southland Fighter Aeroplane Fund passed the £15,000 mark yesterday. Only another £6OOO has to be raised before the province will be able to present the British Government with a sum of money sufficient to buy two new fighter aeroplanes for the Royal Air Force. AUCTION OF GOODS AND PRODUCE The offer of William Todd and Company, Limited, auctioneers, tc sell articles and produce free of commission for the benefit of the fund, has been accepted by many persons who find this a convenient way to make a donation and yesterday afternoon the goods on hand were sold at the Rialto. They realized £37/1/3. In addition to quantities of cheese, potatoes and other produce, a wide variety of articles including a tray, brass bowls, watches, gold rings and brooches and books were sold by the auctioneer, Mr W. S. Todd.
