Fair To Cloudy (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, July 16. The following is the special forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office: Light to moderate winds front a northerly quarter. Weather fair to cloudy and cool. Seas slight. Following is the Dominion forecast: Weather overcast, with intermittent rain setting in tonight in the western and far northern districts and gradually becoming general during tomorrow. Temperatures moderate at first in the North Island. Otherwise cool. General Situation: The Eastern Tasman Sea is covered by an extensive depression in which a secondary cyclonic centre appears to be deevloping west of Cape Maria Van Diemen. Pressure is high east of the Dominion. Winds: North-easterly to northerly winds, strong at times in exposed positions and possibly reaching gale force tonight in parts of the Auckland Peninsula. Otherwise moderate. A change to fresh westerlies is likely tomorrow in the far north. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough at times north of East Cape; otherwise moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong north-easterly winds backing to fresh westerlies in the northern portion during tonight Seas rough. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine and calm.
