SECONDARY SCHOOLS GAME AT TIMARU (United Press Association) TIMARU, July 16. Although the ground was heavy and greasy the Timaru and Otago High Schools provided a splendid exhibition in the annual match today, Timaru winning by 11 points (three tries, one converted) to a penalty goal. The forwards were fairly evenly matched, although the visitors were superior in the set scrums. The home backs were the deciding factor, showing more initiative and speed than the visitors. The members of the Otago team returned to Dunedin by yesterday afternoon’s express. RIVERTON JUNIOR TEAM BEATS OREPUKI The Riverton junior team met the Orepuki junior team on the Riverton ground. A well-contested game resulted in a win for the home team by 22 points to 8. The teams were: Orepuki: D. Ferguson, Garden, McKillop, A. Macpherson, Randall, D. Macpherson, Brown, Daly, Linton, Houlihan, Popham, S. Mackenzie, Heath, D. Mackenzie, Murphy Riverton: Herriot, Webb, Wright, Dick, Alexander, Anderson, Bailey, Reidie, Clarke, DiSkson, Trembath, Crookes, Rose, MacDougall, Mitchell. For Orepuki, D. Macpherson scored a try which he converted. He also kicked a penalty goad. Riverton’s tries were obtained by Crookes (1), MacDougall (2), Wright (2), Dick (1). MacDougall and Anderson each converted a try. Mr G. Bulman was the referee.
