BENEFIT RATES FOR UNEMPLOYMENT

The Unemployment Insurance Bill introduced in the House of Commons pro-, vides for an increase in ’ the benefit rates by a maximum of 3/- weekly, also increases in contributions, and extends the scheme to a large new class by including those earning £420 a year. The cost of living has increased by. 17 per cent, since the outbreak df war, which is' the Government’s principal reason for increasing the basic, rates benefit.
