STEAMER TORPEDOED— The German radio announced that the Swedish steamer Piliagorthon is reported to have been torpedoed off the British coast. The crew of 30 took to the boats. (London) SENT TO PRISON— Rudolf Flech, formerly Stockholm correspondent of the Voelkischer Beobachter, was sentenced to 54 months’ imprisonment with hard labour on a charge of espionage. The details of the charge will be kept secret for 50 years. (Gothenburg.)
