With the overseas share market closed td investors quotations on the Invercargill Stock Exchange have been reduced considerably. Government loans continue to attract attention. The demand for banks was limited to New Zealand long-term D shares, which were wanted at £l/6/-. Li the industrial group there were buyers for D.I.C. (pref.) at £l/2/6, McKenzie’s at £1 19/- and Paper Mills at £l/5/-. Quotations were as follows:—

Rattray and Son, Ltd., Invercargill, report having received the following cabled report of the tea auction held in Colombo on Tuesday:—

Seasonal quality improvement continues with heavier supplies available and in sight; strong demand for higher grades of blending quality, with advance of Jd per lb; common teas neglected with decline of id to Id per lb for poorer grades; quantity, 2,250,000 lb; next sale, 2,000,0001 b.

OIL DRILLING (United Press Association) GISBORNE, June 27. The New. Zealand Petroleum Company reports that at the Morere No. 1 well the proposed test of gas has been postponed and drilling is to be resumed- as soon as possible. At Midhurst the No. 1 bore is down to 640 ft and the reaming out completed, preparatory to setting the surface casing. The bottom of this hole is in shale. WAIKAKA STOCK SALE Only one pen of sheep was offered at the monthly stock sale held at Waikaka. This was a line of 71 ewe hoggets, which was sold by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd.,at 28/-*.
