REGENT THEATRE NOW SHOWING.—“LADY OF THE TROPICS” (Hedy Lamarr, Robert Taylor, Joseph Schildkraut). Popular stars are featured in the story of a beautiful girl of IndoChina who, because she is a halfcaste, meets insurmountable barriers in her struggles to escape from the Orient. The private life of an actress and a romance of the theatre are revealed in “Secrets of An Actress,” which gives Kay Francis one of her best dramatic roles. BEGINNING FRIDAY.—“HOME FROM HOME” (Sandy Powell, Rene Ray) and “PRIVATE DETECTIVE” (Jane Wyman, Dick Foran, Gloria Dickson, Maxie Rosenbloom). In “Home From Home” Sandy Powell takes the role of a convict who is glad to remain in prison out of the way of his domineering wife.

When he is pardoned and has to go home the trouble begins all over again. The comedian finds time for some catchy songs.
