R.S.A. MEMBERSHIP The secretary (Mr G. L. Gerken) reported to a meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association that the financial membership of the association stood at 303. compared with 222 at the same period last year and 283 at the last meeting. Those present at the meeting were: Messrs P. R. Stewart (president), M. Green, A. L. McDowell, E. J. Columb, J. McQueen, J. Ritchie, T. F. Rusbridge, F. M. Murray, A. C. Steel, W. H. Sadlier, W. D. Shelton and G. L. Gerken (secretary). A motion of sympathy was carried with Mr A. Orr (Kingston Crossing) in the recent death of his son. It was decided to give £3/3/- to the Salvation Army. POWER CUT OFF A breakdown in the power lines at west Gore was caused by high winds during Tuesday night and a portion of the town was without electricity for a short period yesterday morning. The fault took some time to find and it was eventually located in Crombie street, the part mainly affected being the area to the south. In other parts of west | Gore the power was off for a shorter period.
