B GRADE DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIPS

SOUTHLAND ASSOCIATION’S TOURNAMENT

The men’s and women’s B grade doubles championships were completed at the Southland Table Tennis. Association’s tournament last evening. In the final of the women’s event Misses Downey and Murray beat Mrs Paton and Miss O’Halloran and in the men’s final O’Brien and Waddick proved too good for Derbridge and Morrison. Two handicap events were also decided. Results are as follows:— WOMEN’S B GRADE DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP First round.—Misses Downey and Murray beat Mrs Hind and Miss Mur-. fitt, 21-10, 21-11; Mrs Schroder and Miss Wills beat Misses Grieve and Stevenson, 21-17, 21-17; Misses Cowie and Wilson beat Miss Blanch and Mrs Singleton, 21-12, 21-6; Mrs Paton and Miss O’Halloran beat Mesdames Ferguson and Kilgour, 21-18, 21-11. Semi-finals.—Misses Downey and Murray beat Mrs Schroeder- and Miss Wills, 21-14, 21-12; Mrs Paton and Miss O’Halloran beat Misses Cowie and Wilson, 25-23, 21-11. Final.—Misses Downey and Murray beat Mrs Paton and Miss O’Halloran, 21-16, 21-17. MEN’S B GRADE DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP First round.—Sadlier and Young beat Cullen and Kerr, 23-21, 21-15; A. and S. Robertson beat Greenwood and Stewart, 18-21, 21-5, 21-18; Derbidge and Morrison beat Ferguson and Johnson, 21-14, 14-21, 21-8; Grenfell and Potts beat Feam and Dixon, by default; Eades and J.
