JAPANESE WATCH INDO-CHINA
SEALING OF FRONTIER PLANNED
(Received June 26, 10.30 p.m.) SHANGHAI, June 25.
The Domei News Agency’s Canton correspondent says that the South China Command announced that Japanese troops have reached the outskirts of Lungchow, 18 miles from the Indo-China border, after crushing all opposition. It is said that the objective was to “seal the Indo-China frontier,” indicating that invasion was not planned immediately. The vernacular Press in Tokyo generally states that the Government will soon formally declare an East Asian autonomy, which will not allow any Power to interfere in East Asia, including. French Indo-China and the East Indies. Admiral Yomiuri characterized the reported new diplomacy as an “East Asia Monroe Doctrine.”
