RAIDS CARRIED OUT ON ENEMY COAST

No Casualties Suffered

By British

NAVAL AND MILITARY PERSONNEL ENGAGED

(United Press Association—Telegraph Copyright) (Received June 27,1.20 a.m.) LONDON, June 26. The British Ministry of Information has announced that land raids on the enemy coast have been carried out without casualties. Naval and military personnel took part in the raids which resulted in valuable information being secured. Although the German and Italian demands accepted by the French Cabinet mean the complete capitulation of France and the conversion of the country into a vassal state, reports continue to be received in London indicating the determination of the French colonial Empire to fight on. Practically ail the French colonies have affirmed their refusal to accept Marshal Henri Petain’s decision to surrender his country to Germany and Italy and have made it clear that they intend to carry on the struggle until victory is achieved. France’s capitulation was a blow to Britain, and the assurances that the French Empire will continue to fight are very heartening.

The Tunis wireless has stated that no part of the French territory in North Africa has been occupied by the enemy and that none of it will be occupied.

A French ex-serviceman, broadcasting from London, said that French airmen coming to Britain after the Bordeaux Government’s surrender were prevented from bringing their aeroplanes as the Government had sealed the petrol reserves. Naval officers were replaced by others who were ready to hand over the ships to the enemy.

The Times says that in terms of violence unprecedented even in the Third Reich the whole German Press announces a campaign for the annihilation of England. All the papers carry huge headlines unanimously declaring that the hour of reckoning for Britain has arrived.
