Occasional Showers
(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 26. The following is the special Southland forecast issued by the Meteorological OfficerModerate to strong south-westerly winds. Occasional showers are still likely on the south coast, elsewhere weather fair. Moderate temperatures and seas rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather changeable in western districts and in Southland with occasional passing showers but gradually improving; elsewhere fair to fine; frosts inland tonight but temperatures somewhat milder tomorrow. General Situation.—Pressure is high over the Tasman Sea and northern New Zealand, while a depression is located to the south of the Chatham Islands. Winds.—Varying between south and west, strong or of gale force at times in exposed positions; otherwise moderate.
Seas (New Zealand waters). —Rough north of Cape Egmont and south of Otago peninsula, otherwise slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Strong but gradually decreasing south-wester-ly winds. Rough seas.
At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and overcast with a strong south-west wind. The barometer reading for the last three mornings have been as follows:— This morning (rising) 30.19 in. Wednesday 29.89 in, Tuesday 29.70 in.
