Mr W. J. A. McGregor, chairman of the Bluff Harbour Board, was last night appointed the board’s representative to attend the New Zealand Harbour Boards Association conference at Wellington on July 24. Mi’ G. W. Whittingham was elected president of the Gore Racing Club at the annual meeting last night. Reference to the death of Captain C. Bradshaw, a former employee of the board, was made by the chairman of the Bluff Harbour Board (Mr W. J. A. McGregor) last evening. A resolution of sympathy with his relations was passed. Lieutenant-Colonel D. C. Monro, R.A.M.C., eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr C. J. Monro, Palmerston North, has been promoted to the rank of colonel. He has also been appointed Professor of Military Surgery at the Royal Army Medical College, London, consulting surgeon to the Army, and honorary surgeon to the King.
