PIONEER SCORES GOOD WIN BRIGHT GAME AT MATAURA Mataura and Pioneer contested one of the most interesting games of the competition on the Mataura ground. The spectators were treated to bright open football, with brilliant handling at times by the backs. Pioneer won by 17 points to 13. The teams were:—

MATAURA.—Johnston, T. Clarke, Coster, R. Clarke, Gibson, Adam, Hannah, Sharp, Renshaw, W. Coster, Sayers, Dixon, Gaudion, Folster, McGowan.

PIONEER.—Tutty, Holland, McKenzie, Rodgers, Newman, Henry, Muir, McLean, Ward, Robins, McArthur, Rutter, Matheson, McMullan. Working the line-out well, the Pioneer backs went into action, with Newman, Henry and McKenzie prominent, the latter diving over in the corner to open the scoring. The kick missed. Stickle was the referee. WIN FOR CHRISTCHURCH HIGH SCHOOL (United Press Association) TIMARU, June 25. Christchurch High School beat Timaru High School in the annual match today by 16 points to 11. Play was fast and open, the visitors being slightly better in all departments. Tries for the winners were scored by Wilkinson, Brook and Mummery. One was converted. Richards also kicked a penalty goal. For Timaru Hunter scored and Doherty converted. The latter also kicked two penalty goals. Christchurch won the junior game by five points to three.
