SICK AND INJURED IN HOSPITALS
SOUTHLAND INSTITUTIONS Reports of superintendents of hospitals in the Southland Hospital Board’s district for the month of May show that there is much sickness at present. At the Southland Hospital 293 patients were admitted during May, 281 were discharged, 10 died and 151 remained at the end of the month. The total number of patients treated was 442. At Gore Hospital 93 patients were admitted, 89 were discharged, one died and 45 remained at the end of the month. At Riverton Hospital 58 patients were admitted, 59 were discharged, three died and 32 remained at the end of the month. At Lake County Hospital 11 patients were admitted, 10 were discharged and 15 remained at the end of the month. At Lome Infirmary 31 patients were admitted, 17 were discharged, three died and 82 remained at the end of the month. The following donations were received at the Riverton Hospital in May:—Flowers from Mrs Clothier (Aparima), Mrs Pankhurst (Longwood), Mr Meek (Fairfax) and Mrs Stuart (Otaitai Bush); two sacks of cabbages from Mrs Andrew Crack (Thornbury) and magazines from Mr A. Noble (Invercargill).
