RAILWAY OFFICERS TRANSFERRED

NEW APPOINTMENTS TO INVERCARGILL (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 14. Appointments and promotions affecting senior officers of the Railways Department were announced in Wellington today. The appointments follow the retirement on superannuation recently of officers who have completed 40 years service with the department. Mr W. Elsom, formerly chief clerk in the refreshment branch at Wellington, has been appointed comptroller of (he refreshment branch in succession to Mr F. Lindsay, who retired recently. Mr G. Turkington, district supervisor, Wellington, has been appointed chief clerk, and Mr P. W. Gasson succeeds Mr Turkington as district supervisor.

Mr F. J. Raines, district traffic manager at Invercargill retired recently and his successor is Mr F. G. Craig, assistant district traffic manager at Dunedin.

Mr C. H. Trask, stationmaster at Auckland, has been appointed assistant district traffic manager at Dunedin. Mr Trask, who is well known in the Wellington district, was stationmaster at Napier till his transfer to Auckland within recent months. For a period before his Napier appointment he was assistant stationmaster at Wellington. Mr T. Miller, stationmaster at Frankton Junction, has been appointed to succeed Mr Trask at Auckland and Mr J. S. Scoullar, stationmaster at Timaru, has been appointed stationmaster at Frankton Junction. Mr L. Patterson, chief clerk at Lyttelton, has been appointed stationmaster at Timaru. => Mr A. C. Cockroft, assistant traffic manager at Wellington, has been appointed chief clerk in the transportation superintendent’s office at Wellington.

Mr M. L. Bracefield, stationmaster at Taumarunui, succeeds Mr Cockroft as 'assistant traffic manager at Wellington.

Mr C. D. McKenzie, stationmaster at Oamaru, has been appointed goods agent at Dunedin. Mr J. Barnett, goods agent at Dunedin, has been transferred to a similar position in Christchurch. Mr F. C. Denz, traffic inspector at Wellington, has been appointed stationmaster at Invercargill and Mr C. A. Gallagher, assistant stationmaster at Dunedin has been appointed stationmaster at Timaru.
