UNION LEADER TO BE DEPORTED
BILL BEFORE CONGRESS IS APPROVED (Received June 14, 6.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 13. The House of Representatives after a heated debate indicated its approval of a Bill to deport Mr Harry Bridges, regional leader on the Pacific coast of the Committee for Industrial Organization by declaring the Bill in order after a test vote of 325 to 20. Senator Hamilton Fish, urging the House to pass the Bill, said: “The time has come to find whether Mr Bridges or Congress runs the Government. He is a symbol of the ■ ’Fifth Column . A letter from Mr Bridges defending himself was read amid boos and hisses. The House passed the Bill by 329 votes to 42 and sent it to the Senate.
