SOUTHLAND’S RUGBY VOLUNTEERS
Southland Rugby was represented in the last Great War by 960 players from every corner of the province, and judged on the resp- use already made to the call for recruits Southland footballers look like making,a substantial contribution to the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The number of volunteers from Southland Rugby clubs has now reached 300. Of that number 36 have represented Southland and 12 were members of the 1939 Southland team. The record is one of which Southland Rugby should be proud.
