Fair To Cloudy

(Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, June 13. The special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office is:

Moderate winds from a westerly quarter, freshening at times. Occasional drizzle or rain on the coast but weather mainly fair to cloudy and cool. Seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— A little scattered rain in the far south-west and south; otherwise fair to fine and cool; some sharp frosts tonight in both islands. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone extends on to New Zealand from the Tasman Sea. Pressure is low to the southeast of the Chatham Islands. Winds.—Fresh winds from the westerly quarter in the far south; elsewhere mainly light to moderate, rather variable but with south-westerlies still predominating over the Auckland province. Seas (New Zealand waters).—Rather rough but decreasing north of Cape Egmont; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea.—Light to fresh southerly winds and moderate seas in the northern portion; moderate to strong westerly winds and rather rough seas in the southern portion.
