FIRMER VALUES YESTERDAY Fat Sheep Increase By 2/6 A Head LESS DEMAND FOR FAT CATTLE Although the store sheep yarded showed a big drop numerically compared with the previous week, other sections at Lorneville yesterday were much on a par with those forward at the last sale, with store cattle showing a good increase. There was keen competition in the fat sheep section, good quality ewes and wethers showing an increase of 2/6 a head but the values of those of other qualities were unaltered. The fat cattle sale was a slow one, with values showing an easing tendency. In the store cattle section late rates were maintained while there was little alteration in the values fox store sheep. Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. sold 3000 feet of timber of various classes at prices ranging from 12/6 to £2 a lot. . ~ The following is a comparative table of the yardings of the last two sales:

FAT CATTLE There was a full yarding of fat cattle, a good percentage being good quality cows of all classes. The sale was a slow one with values for heavyweight cattle showing an easing tendency but good quality lightweights and cows remained the same as last week. Good quality bullocks made from £l2/10/— to £l3/10/-, medium weights £ll to £ll/15/-, handy weights £lO/5/- to to £lO/15/-, lightweights £B/10/- to £9/10/-. STORE CATTLE There was a small yarding of store cattle, a big percentage consisting of empty cows. These sold at late rates, best conditioned sorts making up to £6/12/6'. Medium sorts made from £3/10/- to £4/10/-, and culls to £2. In the dairy section cows close to profit made to £9, while factory calvers brought from £3/10/- to £4/10/-. Good quality wethers and ewes of all classes were about 2/6 a head dearer but values for light and unfinished wethers were unchanged. Prime wethers made up to 41/-, prime quality. 33/6 to 37/6, good quality 31/- to 32/-, medium 27/6 to 29/-, light and unfinished 23/to 24/6. Prime young ewes made up to 27/6, prime quality 24/- to 25/6, medium 21/6 to 23/-, lightweights 17/to 19/-, unfinished 14/- to 15/6. There was a small entry in the fat lamb section the majority being light and unfinished. Best quality lambs made up to 30/-, medium 24/6 to 26/- and unfinished 21/6 to 22/6.
