PLANKING ON BRIDGE “If this is the only complaint the Automobile Association has I consider that most of our parking and control of motor traffic must be in an almost perfect state,” said the Deputy-Mayor (Mr J. R. Martin) at tlie meeting of the Invercargill City Council last night when a letter was received from the Automobile Association (Southland). The letter stated: —“I have been instructed by my committee to draw your attention to the condition of the bridge over the Otepuni creek on Lindisfarne street. We have had several complaints from residents in the vicinity of noise caused by loose boards which rattle whenever vehicles pass over the bridge, and of a loose stay which also creates noise in windy weather.” A report by the city engineer (Mr F. M. Corkill) stated: “The matter will be attended to, but is trivial in the extreme.” The letter was received. A suggestion made by the Automobile Association that alterations be made in the bus stops on the East road service was not approved by the council. The works committee reported that the association had supplied a plan with suggestions for alterations to bus stops on the service. The committee had considered the matter and had conferred with the bus owner. The existing stops were considered to be most convenient to the passengers using the service. The committee recommended that no alteration be made in the present system, except that the stop at Jed street be altered to the eastern I side of the intersection. I
