George Formby’s Latest Comedy For Regent

George Formby sings several songs in his inimitable fashion, as well as becoming involved in a series of hilarious complications, in “Come On, George,” his latest film, which is to be shown for the first time at the Regent Theatre on Saturday. The lighthearted story presents the famous comedian as a stable hand, unconsciously sc t to guard a wild horse called “Maneater.” Formby, battling with racehorse crooks, is psycho-analysed and hypnotized into unusual moral and physical courage. There is plenty of nonsense concerned with running along the top of railway carriages, and trouble with a police sergeant who offers to furnish, and rent his cell, and a mental specialist episode with much play on the subject of delayed reflex. For those who like their fun in large slices and who admire the inimitable George (and who doesn’t), this is a film that will banish depression. Patricia Kirkwood and Joss Ambler give excellent assistance in supporting roles.
