PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE FORMED
Thirty residents attended a meeting at Oreti and decided to form a patriotic committee. All present were appointed as a general committee. a . The following executive officers were elected:—Chairman, Mr T. R. 'Maclean; vice-chairmen, Messrs J. J. Woods and T. Miller; secretary, Mr J. L. Hazlett. It was decided to proceed with the collection of subscriptions, and it was reported that a district resident, who was unable to be present at the meeting, had given a donation of £lo.* A social committee, with Mrs R. J. Woods as chairman, was formed to arrange the holding of a fair. It was decided to hold fortnightly euchre tournaments.
