Dr Paul van Zeeland, former Prime Minister of Belgium, in a speech, said that United States business men may have a decisive role in the post-war reorganization of world economy on an
international basis. He urged as the primary objective the raising of the living standard of the masses, for which reason artificial obstacles hampering the circulation of goods, capital and men must be abated and suppressed.
He cited the dangers of a concentration of gold in a single country.
