Milne with a possible of 80, at the weekly shoot of the Gore Miniature Rifle Club held on the club’s range in the Theatre Royal. The handicap button was won by J. CLAY-BIRD SHOOT With the object of giving duck shooters some practice before the opening of the season the Gore Defence Rifle Club conducted three sweepstake clay-bird shoots on its range at McNab. A high wind made conditions difficult, but there was some good performances. Results were:— First Sweepstake (five birds). —G. Bonney (16 yards) five birds 1, P. R. Mallon (11 yards) four birds 2, W. H. Sadlier (18 yards) four birds 3. The two. last-mentioned men shot off for second place. Second Sweepstake (six birds). —W. Cunningham (11 yards) six birds 1, A. Wescombe (14 yards) five birds 2, W. H. Sadlier (18 yards), W. D. Milne (14 yards), F. Norton (11 yards) four birds, equal 3. Third Sweepstake (six birds). —W. H. Sadlier (18 yards) five birds 1, W. Cunningham (13 yards) five birds 2, A. Wescombe (14 yards) four birds 3. Cunningham and Sadlier shot off for first and second places and A. Wescombe (14 yards), P. R. Mallon (11 yards), A. Hay (11 yards) and W. D. Milne (14 yards) with four birds each shot off for third place. A miniature rifle shoot at 50 yards was also fired. The top scorers were F. Norton and A. Williamson with 77 points each out of a possible 80. ROTARY LUNCHEON The Gore Rotary Club entertained a number of Invercargill Rotarians and local visitors at its weekly luncheon yesterday. Mr F. Hall-Jones, of Invercargill, was the speaker, and he referred to the ideals of the Rotary movement and its objects. He was accorded a vote of thanks. WOMEN’S GOLF The draw of the Gore Ladies’ Golf Club for a sealed holes match to be played tomorrow and on Saturday is as follows:—Miss M. Rodgers v. Miss N. Paterson, Mrs G. C. Hamilton v. Mrs G. R.
