LONDON, April 30. Latest reports received in London indicate that the Allied forces in Norway are doing well and that the troops are closing in at several points Some changes are reported in the position at Namsos, but these are well in hand.
At Narvik the property of an important ore company was set on fire. It is not known whether this is the result of German action or British bombardment.
Allied troops are apparently still holding their positions north of Stenkjaer and in other parts of Norway they have beaten back attacking forces and captured some medium German tanks.
German aeroplanes bombed and machine-gunned Norwegian trading and fishing ships along the coast, setting one on fire and sinking it. They also heavily bombed the hospital ship, Brand IV, off Aallesund, killing five persons, including a doctor, and injuring many. There were no casualties on another hospital ship which was bombed. Three German bombers leading a convoy of 60 air transports savagely attacked a Red Cross unit bringing Norwegian evacuees from the Osterdal region to Sweden. Eighteen men and four women fled to the woods while a bomber swooped down machine-gunning. A second bob - ber dropped a bomb 30 feet from the ambulances, and < i third bomber riddled the ambulances with bullets. All the ambulances prominently displayed'the Red Cross.
