WOMEN’S PAIRS TO NIGHTCAPS TOURNAMENT HELD IN INVERCARGILL City and country clubs were represented in the pairs tournament conducted by the Southland Women’s Bowling Association on the Te Rangi and R.S.A. greens yesterday. The weather was fine and warm. A country pair, Mrs Rushton and Mrs Lyng (skip), of Nightcaps, won the final after an interesting match with Mrs Wedderspoon and Mrs Smart (Southland). The scores were level with one head to play, a three to Nightcaps giving it victory by 19 points to 16. Following are the results: R.S.A. The Southland pair then scored steadily and with one end to play they were level—l 6 points each. Nightcaps outpointed.its opponent on the last end, scoring three points. MURIHIKU CUP R.S.A. BEATS WYNDHAM In a match for the Murihiku Cup on the R.S.A. green last evening, R.S.A. (holder) defeated Wyndham by five l points. The scores were:— R. W. A. Hagen, J. Filippini, C. Aslett, A. PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW FOR SATURDAY The annual champion of champion, pairs competition -will begin at 8.30 a.m. on the Northend green on Saturday.
