SHIP BEGINNING TO DISAPPEAR
FOREMAST OF WAIKOUAITI SUBMERGED As was expected, the forward portion of the wrecked steamer Waikouaiti is beginning to break into pieces. About six o’clock on Tuesday night the foremast disappeared from view. Of the front portion of the vessel only the top of the bridge and samson posts was visible at low water. The weight of the mast forward had evidently caused the whole of the front of the ship to topple sideways into the sea. The after mast is still in the same position.
